Muse on
Greensboro
Greensboro Public Library's Bicentennial Poetry Contest
First
Place Prizes - $150
Second
Place Prizes - $100
Celebrate the
Bicentennial by writing a poem inspired by Greensboro’s
past, present, or future. The winning poems will have a
clear Greensboro connection. Poetic topics can be concrete
in identifying Greensboro people and places or abstract in
embracing emotions and understandings inspired by Greensboro
events, such as topics about race relations and matters of
faith. Let Greensboro become your poetic muse. What inspires
and connects you and your family to the places and community
life of the Gate City?
Poets may submit up to two unpublished poems.
Applications may also picked up at
Greensboro Public Library branches. Application due
February 15, 2008. Call Suzanne Pell for more information:
373-2811.

years old);

years old);

have its own winners.
In addition to prize money, winning poets will have an
opportunity for a public reading and will be published in
newspapers, posters and a booklet of poems honoring the
City’s bicentennial. Winners will be announced mid-March, 2008.
